Babies are the one who have sensitive skin. Oftentimes they suffer from skin rashes because of heat and allergies. Infants and toddlers always suffer from different kind of rash. This is called as nappy rash or diaper rash. Little ones who are suffering from this rash often cries out for the sting and itch it brings.
Diaper rash is a skin irritation simply caused by a diaper. Some synonyms associated with diaper rash are diaper dermatitis, napkin or nappy rash and ammonia dermatitis. There are lot of reasons that causes diaper rash but the main problem of it is, that nappy rash irritates the baby due to contact of the skin and the diaper.
Sometimes diaper rash is also caused by too much heat or due to weather changes. Because of heat, the dampness of the diaper develops some rashes that are too itchy that may lead a toddler to scratch the rash and cause more rashes. The result of this is uneasiness on baby’s part. He may even cry for the whole day because of the agitation cause by such irritation.

How to Cure

Potty train a child to get used, of not having a diaper. Try using a diaper cloth so that the air can pass by through the baby’s skin.

Without any delay, change the diaper immediately to avoid the skin from having contact with the skin. See to it that the baby’s bum is dry all the time to avoid any irritation and rashes.

Let the toddler or baby drink 2 to 3 ounces of cranberry juice because it helps lower down the ph level in the urine thus minimizing diaper irritation.

Make it a habit to wash baby’s butt with clean running water with gentle soap that is made for baby’s skin. Lukewarm water is much better to use. After cleaning the baby’s bottom, wipe up and apply with an anti diaper rash powder or u can put petroleum jelly to protect the skin from irritation. Petroleum jelly and Vaseline protects the baby’s bottom from water and from potty to stick on the baby’s butt.

You can use oatmeal in bathing your baby by soaking him for a few minutes. Oatmeal softens and moisturizes the skin.

Baking soda can also be added on baby’s bath because it also protects the skin from rashes and a useful healing for diaper rash. Moms can also use milk of magnesia to apply over and over again.

Vegetable oil also will do something to the baby’s affected area.

For the moms who uses cloth diapers, they can use a solution that is made for washing baby’s cloth diapers. Diapers are soaked wet in this antibacterial solution and boil them with the detergent and rinsed it well for about many times.

Shun from using commercial baby wet wipes because some unknown wet wipes may contain high ingredients of alcohol that may irritate the skin.
Responsible parenting is much needed to protect children or babies, toddlers or kids from having or acquiring different kinds of diseases. Mostly babies, suffering from diaper rash is just normal because they are still in the diaper stage but this problem can be avoided if parents see to it, that they provide the right care and the right materials to protect their babies from having rashes especially diaper rash.
