This is the stage of a child wherein his attitude is often unreliable. One moment he is enthusiastic and the next he is all of a sudden grumpy. You would notice that a few minutes ago he was gracious, bighearted and affectionate while within a few minutes he changes into a kid who is envious and crying. Their minds are working too well and they develop to think rationally while progressively improving on their analytical skills and with that, they begin to understand the reasons on why things happen and why things have to be in a particular way but simply in their own logical understanding. Oftentimes they are so sensitive and that they do not take criticism well and are always hurt and upset when they are being criticized.

A physical activity helps in easing away their tensions in a positive way. Do not offer a six year old child, choices that he can’t handle.
Activities and Interests
-
Three general types of play in early childhood: self centered play, object play and social play. As the child approached being six year old, all types of play remain but the trend upgrades to social play.
-
These social plays includes role laying such as dramatic scripts, characterizing themselves as either their school teacher and class students, parents and their child, partners, police and culprits and so on. Characterizing role play further helps in their development of perspectives builds empathy and helps them feel a sense of social power and competence.
-
Object play means single play with toys but then it became social because they have to interact with their fellow kids at their age. Dolls will be incorporated in the theatrical script, plain board games are enjoyed with a crowd, and house and school play needs props. The disparity now is that two or few extra children will play jointly with the toys, creating their individual games by means of reciprocity to describe the use of toys.
-
Some six year old kids may even love to play alone with their favorite toys. They are even good readers or one who enjoys reading as a past time, in this sense they make them feel comfortable and less stressful on their being a six year old. A six year old needs a private time to play to relieve the tension of a social development.
-
A parent should know how to provide their child opportunities for them to have social play time and solitary play time with toys and objects that reflect the child’s personal interests.
At age six, the child learns how to cope up with his environment.
