This is a very easy task yet has to be extra cautious. Usually parents prefer homemade baby food because that is economical as compared to buying pre-package food, one can be assured as what the baby is being fed upon, you can give your baby the best you want, the baby gets to eat the food the family prefers but only in puree form. Apart from all these advantages homemade baby food has some disadvantages too. Preparing baby food is a time consuming task, packaged food comes in measured food, and improper refrigeration can spoil food even.
You can use thinners while making baby food like steamed water, breast milk, cow’s milk, broth, yoghurt, apple juice. You can also use thickeners like cottage cheese, cooked egg, yoghurt, mashed potato, wheat germ, sweet potato, whole grain cereal. Remember to discard remained food; do steam preparation of vegetables to retain vitamins and minerals as much a possible compared to boiling. Be sure your baby has accepted all vegetables and fruits before trying for meats. Use sterilized containers and ice-cube tray to refrigerate and freeze extra. Babies must be given soft diet so that their digestive system gets accustomed to food other than mother’s milk.
