Though this is the trend being adopted by all the working couples living in a nuclear family, there are still apprehensions attached to the concept of hiring a maid. Speak to her past employers and know if they were happy with her services. Listen to your gut feeling before making any choice, don't just rush with things.

Love for children: It's not necessary that all maids are fond of kids. When you hire a maid, observe how she behaves with the child. The way of interaction will help you out in figuring whether the person has an affection for kids or not.

Patience: Dealing with babies require lots of patience. The maid should be capable enough to deal with the baby's tantrums and unreasoned cries. Checking her past work record will help you out in knowing the same.

Eagerness to learn: Ideologies of families differ from each other and they have distinct ways of bringing up a child. The person you are looking to hire as a maid must be eager enough to learn new things and adapt to the changes and customs.

Hygiene: Cleanliness is very vital to keep notorious diseases like coughs, colds, flu, etc at bay. And when it comes to baby, the hygiene part should never be compromised with. See to it that your maid sticks to personal hygiene. Observe the way she presents herself and reacts to matters of hygiene.

A Quick Check List

• Be clear with the maid about her daily tasks and duties.

 

• Fix a probation period for her and review her work frequently.

 

• Make her feel she is always under surveillance.

 

• Ask for her identification proof like aadhar card, voter ID, birth certificate or a ration card.

 

• If possible, conduct a background check.
