Children suffering from autism have difficulty in understanding others behaviour, emotions and feelings. They are also unable to express themselves through words, facial expressions or gestures.
It is a complex disorder that requires sensitive handling, especially by the peers and parents of the child. Such children have unusual responses to normal things and trouble accepting any kind of change, especially in their routine. They may also have seizures. Such children demonstrate uneven skill development, which diminishes their ability to communicate normally, but makes them exceptional in certain areas, like mathematics, painting, music or learning facts. It is important that you recognize the special talent of your child and nurture it, so that you child becomes truly special and independent when he grows up. Treat such children with patience and love and they will not disappoint you. Special treatments and medications are aimed at alleviating certain symptoms of autism, but you may have to turn to
special institutions in case the disorder is quite severe.
