Rubella, also known as German measles, is a viral infection. It causes rashes of pinkish-red color, which appears on the face first and then spreads allover the body. It is also known as three-day-measles as the virus remains for about three days.

A mild temperature with swollen lymph glands can be observed other than rashes as its symptoms. It is said to have stuffy and running nose along with inflamed eyes. Some of the ladies may have headache and joint pain as well.
Rubella is a contagious disease as it spreads when an infected person sneezes or coughs. There are chances of passing the infection to the baby if a woman is affected with this disease during her conception. It can harm the baby badly ranging from its deafness to the inflammation of its brain and heart problems. How much it defects the baby depends on when you have been affected by the disease. The chances are more during the initial stages of pregnancy. It is considered to the best solution if you get vaccinated against rubella before you plan to conceive. If unfortunately you get affected by the disease, your doctor would recommend tests and suggest how to carry on with your pregnancy.
