There are many reasons that cause fever in children. You should understand precise reason for your child’s fever. It is natural to have fever due to seasonal changes or any other reasons in children. Without getting nervous about your child’s fever you should take positive action to cure your baby. In child 98.6°F is considered as normal temperature and temperature above 100.4°F is considered as fever in your baby.
Various Reasons for Fever in Children
When your child’s body temperature rises from normal temperature it is considered as fever in children. If your child’s resistance power gets lower he gets viral or bacterial infection or other infection very quickly. You should immediately contact your child’s doctor if you found 100.4°F or above temperature if your baby is become three months age or less that and for less than six months old baby if you find temperature 102.2 °F or more. Fever is not good sign for baby of three months old or less than that.
Sometimes due to cold or seasonal change your baby get fever and it may be cure easily. Some babies look normal and feed normally, in such case you should not worry about your baby. In any case you should not keep yourself unaware for your baby’s health. You should notice your baby about his breathing condition, lack of desire for food sue to fever. There are many reason cause fever in your baby such as colds, flu, gastroenteritis, sore throats, ear infections, respiratory illness such as pneumonia, croup, viral illnesses, bronchiolitis, urinary tract infections, heat illnesses, teething, vaccination, and many more. Viral infection or bacterial infection is the most common reason for fever in children.
You can find fever in your baby if your rectal temperature 100.4ºF or more, oral temperature become 99.5ºF or higher, armpit temperature more than or equals 99ºF, digital pacifier temperature become 100ºF or more and ear temperature about 100.4º or more. In any case it is considered as fever in your child.
Fever Symptoms Check your baby’s fever by touching his forehead and other part of his body. If you find it hot by touching or check temperature using thermometer. If your baby finds some unusual habits like irritation, quite, not eat or feed regularly, cry frequently, take fast breath, find irregular sleep are some reasons for having fever in your children.
Fever Treatment

When your baby get fever you should give him more drinks such as if your baby is breastfeeding, you should feed him or for formula feed baby give him formula milk. You can also give boiled water to keep her well-hydrated during fever.

If your baby is younger to eat food, give her to eat if he desire to eat, possibly give more liquid. Don’t force your child for eating if he refuses to eat.

If he wants to take rest let him to take a rest. During fever enough rest is essential for your child.

Give him prescribe medicine of your baby’s doctor if you have at home or some baby infant paracetamol suspension for mild fever. Do not give any medicine for infant less than two months old without doctor’s instruction.

You can sponge your baby with lukewarm water on her neck, head and inside legs to lower down fever.
Do not predict your child’s fever. If it persist for long and not get lower down you should contact your baby’s doctor immediately. Never give any medicine without prescribe by your baby’s doctor.
