Many couples do not prefer to plan for baby soon after marriage due to various reasons. Everyone has a different opinion about living life. Planning Pregnancy When on Birth Control
Birth Control Pills: If you are using any birth control method, you should stop it when you plan for a baby. If you are taking birth control pills you should stop taking pills when you finish the pack. Some women get pregnant soon after stopping pills while it may take time for some women due to various reasons. Normally after discontinuing pills, hormone level will take some time to get normal in some women that might be one of the reasons of delay in pregnancy. In case of pills also sometimes you find no periods or problem in periods, in such case you should contact your doctor without any delay if the problem persists for more than three months.
Oral Contraceptives: When you take oral contraceptives, it prevent ovulation by maintaining some hormone levels and suppress other natural hormones that stimulate your ovaries to ripen and release an egg. Oral contraceptives prevent an egg from developing. When you take pills your ovulation process gets controlled by pills and you will get regular periods at every 28 days. Once you stop taking birth control pills, your body comes in natural condition and starts hormone production in normal way.
Intra-uterine device: If you are using an intrauterine device (IUD) such as copper-containing IUD or hormone-containing IUD, you should remove it to get pregnant. You should visit the doctor for removing IUD and taking advice regarding planning the baby. In case of hormone-containing IUD, pregnancy can be a bit delayed as it will take time to normalize ovulation cycle. In case your menstrual cycle gets disturbed for more than three months, you should consult your gynecologist to take necessary guidance. You should have sex once in an alternative day or regularly. It is better if you have sex after completion of menstrual period to increase the chances for getting pregnant.
How to keep a track of pregnancy?
When you stop birth control methods, your periods will get disturbed and won't be regular initially. In this case, your menstrual cycle will take around two to three months to get back to normal. This is not same for all women, thus you cannot identify if you get pregnant during this period. Therefore, it is advisable to perform self pregnancy test at home to know about your pregnancy. You can do it after one month of stopping birth control methods. There are various methods to know about your pregnancy at home without going to a doctor for check up. Once you identify positive sign of your pregnancy, you should contact your doctor to confirm the pregnancy.
Prepare Yourself for Healthy Pregnancy
It is not possible for every woman to get pregnant right after stopping birth control methods. You should wait for some time and make strong efforts for getting pregnant. You should eat a healthy diet including vegetables, fruits and other nutrients. Know your most fertile times during ovulation period using an ovulation chart and have sex during this period. You and your partner both have to take healthy diet and avoid any habits such as smoking or drinking. Keeping yourself fit and happy with good exercise and healthy diet is the right step towards healthy pregnancy.
