The Republic Day of India is celebrated each year on the 26th January, to remember the day on which the Indian constitution came into being. The constitution is the most important document of Indian republic, and this day must be celebrated by each Indian individual.
Importance:
The constitution is the set of written rules and laws according to which the country operates. The constitution of India contains all fundamental duties and policies and principles, and is the longest written constitution amongst all sovereign nations. It took 2 years, 11 months and 8 days to complete the constitution of India. The constituent assembly of India, presided over by Dr. Rajendra Prasad adopted the Indian constitution on 26th November, 1949. It was finally enforced on the 26th January, 1950. The 26th has special significance. This day was chosen to commemorate the “Purna Swaraj” declaration that took place in 1930.

Festivities are held all across the nation, but the capital of India, New Delhi is where the celebration is quite grand and magnificent. A grand military parade is carried out in the city. The prime minister lays down a wreath of flowers at Amar Jawan Jyoti to pay the tribute of Indian citizens to all those brave soldiers who sacrificed their life for our nation. The president rewards deserving Indian nationals for their bravery, medals and civilian awards are given away in a grand ceremony. Cultural tableaus are presented by all the states of India. Celebrations are done in each state of India.
