Babies are very cute, aren’t they? All parents love their toddlers and consider them the most precious gift which they could have got. But practically speaking for most of the time  tantrums thrown by a baby however much cute he is can be quite difficult to handle.  Are you now realizing that your baby is no exception? All kids are exactly the same when they are small.

As parents the task of keeping your kids engaged in some activity or the other can prove to be quite daunting. You should look into the fact that your baby interacts with other kids his age or takes part in activities of his interest so that he doesn’t get bored and starts to get over your nerves. Babies get quite restless and impatient pretty soon and then at such a time you can sense trouble. Toddlers are curious about many things around them and you as parents should throw a little light on such things. When you answer some of the questions asked by your toddler it not only enhances their knowledge but also assures them of the fact that they are being paid attention to.

Have you got a toddler who falls in the age group of 12- 18 months? Here are given some of the tips which can prove to be quite useful in engaging your kid:

• See the reaction of your baby girl if you hold her doll in an upside down direction. Tell your kid to retrieve his toy which you have kept on the other side of the sofa. Provide a little climbing experience to your toddler by putting beanbag chairs or pillows in a room’s corner.
• Give a box which has a top over it and allow your baby to play with it by taking off the top and replacing it back again and again. You can also make your baby play a dropping game. A hole can be made in some ice-cream container’s lid so as to allow your baby to drop a rubber ball inside.
• Take a stuffed animal and tie it with a rope. See the reaction of your baby as she sees it swing and catches it.
• Teach your kid to switch the lights of your home on as well as off. Put a number of containers in front of your baby and allow him to fill and empty them with water.
• Imitating drumbeats is one of the favorite pastimes of a baby under this age group.
• Allow your baby to take a real phone instead of a play phone and make him talk on it. Also speaking through tube is something which babies love to do.
• You should show your kid how a clothespin fits around a container’s edge.
• Lift your toddler as every kid loves to be pampered. Show your toddler his own photographs. Having a look at family albums is something which babies definitely enjoy.
• Allow your kid to water plants or let him do some floor wiping by giving him wet sponge.

• A challenge that can prove to be quite interesting for your toddler is put a pen back inside its holder. Hide your kid’s favorite toy inside a box. Now place this box inside some other box.
• You can give tubes of a number of sizes to your kid and let him experiment with them.
• Allow your child to switch a flashlight on. Dump truck can be made to be filled with sand by your toddler.
• Plastic cutlery which is strong enough may be given to your baby so that she can enjoy with all the dolls.
• Going to the terrace or garden as a picnic along with your toddler and his lunch is a highly enjoyable activity for your kid.
• Books should be kept within his reach as at this age your toddler may feel like reading the books himself.
• Broken toys should never be thrown and a puppet talk can be made to the baby by the parents.  

Now everything is up to you to decide which of the activities from the above given ones you are interested in performing and you will notice that your kids will soon follow suit. It essentially all depends on your own liking and areas of interest.
