1. Visual Learning: Some kids happen to be the visual learners. They grasp things faster if taught via pictures, charts, icons or diagrams. For example, if you have to teach a visual learner how to memorize the alphabets, show him or her the pictures of the letters or the things that have a name beginning with the said alphabet. When teaching grammar, you can use color codes to teach different parts of speech, noun or pronoun etc. When taught by the medium of pictures, visual learners are able to retain the information for long. 

2. Aural Learning: As the name suggests, these learners learn by the means of sound. If you are teaching an English lesson, making some good story or short song will give your aural learner a better understanding of the concept. Story-telling, songs etc. are some of the ways of involving these types of learners. For example, while teaching them alphabet order, you can opt for the poem 'A, B, C, D, E...'  

3. Verbal Learning: These learners majorly focus on the use of words. They love writing down the lessons, reading out the chapters loud, and listening to the audio recordings. They even enjoy discussing the lessons learnt. While teaching them, you will have to be a bit interactive. If you are teaching Newton's Law of Gravity, involve them in a discussion covering the law and its effect around. When teaching them spellings, it would always be better to make them write the spellings down as they will memorize it quickly.     

4. Physical Learning: A few kids enjoy learning by 'Doing'. They love to act out when learning a play in English or Hindi, they would love to make models when studying about historical sites or Geography. They connect everything to things around and are thus able to retain the knowledge so gained. Teaching these types of learners can be a task as you will have to be creative enough to teach them by giving physical examples for every concept.

5. Logical Learning: Simply answering in 'Because' or 'This is what the rule says' will never satisfy the logical learners. They always aim at getting into the depth of a subject and have their own reasoning behind. To teach such kids, you need to probe them on the subjects. Ask as many questions as possible. This helps them in coming up with all possible answers and also aids their thinking power. So don't just teach them that the 'Sky is Blue', better be prepared why is it so as they will for sure put up this question. 

6. Social Learning: Some kids learn better when they sit in groups, have a question-answer session, or work on group projects. If you have a social learner at home, arrange some group studies. Call his classmates or friends of his age and make them study in groups. Though this can't be possible on a daily basis, you can help your child learn by involving yourself in his study. Have discussions and brainstorm the concepts so learnt.  

7. Solitary Learning: A few kids however love to study in solitary. Studying in groups doesn't let them focus and concentrate. They understand things better when they self-study the subject. If your child is a solitary learner, give him or her the needed space. Have a lone time with them and make sure there is no sort of disturbance around. Such kids even love online mode of learning, so you can make use of technology and help your child come across some useful information.
