Water birth is the process of giving birth in warm water and in most cases water is contained in a tub which has the best and comfortable place to give birth. This kind of giving birth may be viewed to be the most relaxing and the most loved process although in it there are both disadvantages and advantages which make many differ in their choices for using it.

There are several benefits which are enjoyed by the mother who labor in such water and they include:

1. Water helps the mother in achieving less stressing contractions which are often experienced through the muscles and other body tissue coordination. 

2. The mother will feel relaxed here because such environment helps in lowering those erratic contractions which often bring pain thus affecting mother’s emotions. 

3. Generally human muscles get more relaxed in water and so this water birth helps the mother in achieving the cool surrounding free from stress and hence in the long run will tend to be lower than usual.

5. Best positions may be achieved so that those which allow easy movement for the baby will be attained easily.

6. Several hazards always pose risks to mothers who prefer to labor in water and they include the following:

7. The hygiene of the pool or bath tub may not be as per the required standards. Infections therefore may arise and hence pose health risks and other problems to both mother and the baby.

8. Blood discharge and other fluids may not become good to the mother and hence end up creating unpleasant environment within the water.

9. Also for those cases where there are emergencies, identifying and dealing with such cases will tend to be difficult. 

Why is water birth not recommended?

Presence of known medical issues such as kidney problems among others.

Improper flow of blood which may lead to high blood pressure 

Mothers with such induced labor are not supposed to use such water birth for labor.
