Pregnancy is certainly the most beautiful and precious journey a woman undergoes in the 40 weeks. 1. Asking if it was planned: Post marriage, all couples look at extending their family and there shouldn't be any surprise over the same. Putting up statements that bring the pregnancy under question is only going to upset the would-be mom.
2. You will never lose weight now: Pregnancy period makes woman put on loads of weight and it is something that's beyond their control. However, if worked upon there is no trouble is shedding off the post pregnancy flab. Don't scare a pregnant woman by saying she can never lose her post baby weight. Let her enjoy the moment and try to encourage her towards shedding the flab once the baby is born.
3. Your belly is too big: Of course it will be! Don't forget she is carrying a child inside and this is ought to make her look big. But no woman wants to be reminded of her increasing size during pregnancy so you better don't break the norms.
4. Seems you'll have twins: You are no doctor to decide the number of babies growing inside. Don't come up with any weird guess about the baby numbers based on the belly size.
5. Scaring about stretch marks: The changes pregnancy brings in a woman's body are beyond control. However, they can be managed over a period of time. Stretch marks are a common phenomenon related to pregnancy. But that doesn't mean you have to bring the topic up every time and scare the would-be mother. This can cause her anxiety and nervousness which isn't good for her and the baby.
6. Drawing comparisons: It's not necessary for all women to have same pregnancy symptoms. While some feel nauseous, many just don't come near to any sort of uneasiness during their entire pregnancy period. Just because some woman you know had frequent throw ups or cramps during pregnancy doesn't mean it can be applied to all. Don't build on the level of nervousness by scaring them about future changes like “Sleep as much as you want for you won't get it post delivery” or “Go for movies, have dinners at restaurants as all this will end after the baby is born”. She certainly doesn't need any of these advices.
8. Eating advice: No pregnant woman likes to be showered with tons of advice on what she should be eating or drinking. A woman expecting a child very well knows about her new dietary needs and she even has a gynecologist to guide on the same. You better don't peep in.
9. Predicting the baby's gender: Some people have this tendency of playing the guessing game and they just don't take any sense of guilt in doing the same with a pregnant woman. Guessing the baby's gender considering the belly size will only irk the pregnant lady leave aside the dislike she'll develop for you.
10. Pregnancy telltales: Don't scare a pregnant lady by telling her about the not so good delivery tales or any horrific experience as it will only increase her fear and anxiety. She has to remain stress free so don't mount it up with statements that are not relevant. There is a lot going on in her mind and future fears can only take a toll on her health.
