We love our food, but more than that we love the myths related to them. Since years, we have been blindly following certain myths associated with food without even knowing the real facts behind. This apparently keeps us away from following the right kind of diet and even deprives us of some healthy eating.

# Myth 1 : Don’t drink water while eating, it can disturb digestion process
You should only avoid doing so if you don’t wish to fill your stomach without eating much. Yes, when you drink water in between your meals, the only thing it does is making you full because of which you eat less food. Water certainly has nothing to do with digestive system getting hampered or affected. So, just keep sipping!
# Myth 2 : Never step outside the house at night after eating any sweet
This is something we have been hearing from our grannies and interestingly; they even had their own theories to prove how stepping out of the house at night or late evening after eating sweet tends to attract the evil powers. Well, science doesn’t agree to this and nor can we. Just keep gorging on your sweet delicacy without fearing any unexpected spirit.
# Myth 3 : Eating saffron (kesar) during pregnancy ensures you have a fair complexioned baby
If this myth got to have any truth to it then we are sure, most of the fairness creams would have vanished by now and expecting mothers would only be seen consuming saffron endlessly. Fact is a fact, saffron or be it any food, never aids in deciding the color of the baby growing inside your womb. It solely depends on parents genes.
# Myth 4 : Never take a bath after having meal
Until and unless your bathing time calls for some hardcore taekwondo moves, it’s completely safe for you. Health experts suggest that any strenuous body movement post meal can induce you to vomit or feel uncomfortable. A mild shower or bath never causes any harm but swimming does.
# Myth 5 : Never ever have milk after eating fish
Now, if you thought fish have some allergy from milk, let clear it out; they don’t. So there’s absolutely nothing that can stop you from enjoying a glass of milk after eating fish. Unless, you only want to skip it fearing you may vomit or spots might come on your face; which certainly has no truth to it.
# Myth 6 : Eating sugar or sweets can cause diabetes
Well, eating sugar or too much of sweets can never assure that you will suffer from diabetes. In fact, most people who suffer from diabetes aren’t addicted to sugar or sugary foods. Diabetes is caused due to disorder of carbohydrate metabolism and an inactive lifestyle.
# Myth 7 : Desi ghee is not good for your health
If go by food and health experts, desi ghee is not that bad for your health. Though many believe that it’s high in fat content but facts suggest that it has saturated fats which aren’t bad. So, no need to stay away from those delicious desi ghee laddoos.
# Myth 8 : Skin of fruits has no nutrient in them
Those who love eating their apples, oranges or guavas with their skin peeled off, are certainly losing on some nutrients. Fruits which have edible skin must be consumed along with the skin only as you get sufficient amount of nutrients from this.
# Myth 9 : Chocolate protects your heart
Well, we don’t know if it does protect the heart or not but yeah it surely tastes great and tempts you to the core. Chocolate hasn’t been proved to regulate or boost heart functions. It however, contributes to weight gain.
# Myth 10 : Don’t eat after 7pm, it will make you fat
Many people follow this rule without fail and they might even be getting good results. But it’s not because of eating before 7pm; the fact is that they keep a considerable gap between their meals and sleep time which lets the digestion happen properly. If you can maintain a time gap of at least 2-3 hours; your stomach won’t mind as to what time you are serving him!
