“I waited a long time to find a husband, but I never did,” she said. She knew it would be difficult to be a single parent. And although she had her doubts, she wanted to have a baby, anyway. So after countless of injections, waiting, stress and nearly $100,000 dollars spent, she was where she always wanted to be, looking after someone who called her ‘MAMA’.

At the age of 40, Angela a single woman only wished to be a Mother. She wanted to experience that feeling. And this was Angela Nicole’s one chance to get pregnant, but she wasn’t very hopeful.
For more than two years, Angela had been trying fertility treatments. She had already gone through 5 rounds of IVF. In her attempt to conceive, she had spent all her savings. At 40, single and out of money, she had nested all her hopes on a single viable frozen embryo.
Throughout this treatment, she had the support of her brother Shawn. He was there with her, through all the ups and downs of the treatment, through all the painful shots she would have to take in a day; sometimes it went up to 3 and 4, he never left her side. Even though the chances were very few, they always hoped for a miracle.
And, it worked.
Sophia was born and Angela and her family couldn’t be happier. One day when Angela’s mother was helping her out, they decided to capture her incredible journey in a beautiful picture.
Angela rocked Sophia to sleep and gently put her on a sheet on the ground. She took out the 500 and more saved syringes and medicine vials from a big wicker basket that she had taken during the IVF treatment.
She arranged the vials and capped syringes around her baby. She stood on a ladder and looked down on her baby and thought, “I want her to know how much I really, really wanted her to be mine.”
She got off the ladder and arranged the vials and syringes in the shape of a heart. She wanted to tell Sophia, ‘hey, I love you’.
Giving birth to a kid is an amazing feeling, something you as a mother can only understand. And although the journey can be very difficult, when you hold your baby in your arms, it all seems worth it.
Very blessed are those who can experiences this joy. Indeed very blessed.
Although Angela’s experience was difficult and emotional, this photo showcased a miracle.
It was a dream come true for her!
