According to Hindu Mythology, Namkaran Ceremonyis considered as a very auspicious ritual and celebrates traditionally in Hindu families. Naming of the Child in Hindu Religious
Namkaran means giving a name to newborn baby. On the twelve days after birth, namkaran ceremony celebration is carried out. On that day baby is also placed in parna or jhula [cradle]. Parna is decorated with balloons and flowers. Women and children are gathered from close family, friends and relatives. Five, seven or eleven little boys and girls swing parna and women sing songs. Honey is applied on baby’s lip by some good family member on this occasion. This ceremony is carried out after namkaran vidhi. Before placing the baby in parna, they perform pooja with kanku and paint swastika [sathia] and put supari [betel nuts] and one rupee coin and quarter rupee coin as it considered lucky in Hindu religions. Some people put nagarvel paan, supari, haldi, moong, one rupee coin and quarter rupee coin.
In many Hindu religions, baby’s name is announced by [baby’s] father’s sister called fia or foi. They first called baby with selected name and then sing traditional naming ceremony song. Then, after all ladies repeat the song and called baby with her name.
In many religions, baby’s father or mother whispers name of baby in his/her right ear. In many religions baby’s namkaran will be carried out after one month and fifteen days while in some religions it will be made after three months of baby’s birth. They place baby in parna or cradle only after naming ceremony. They take baby outside from the home for the first time after ceremony. They visit temple with baby to take blesses of god for their baby’s healthy and happy life.
Period of the first eleven days after birth of baby is known as contaminated or impure for mother. She cannot touch anything in home specially kitchen and pooja. She cannot enter in pooja room and kitchen. On day twelve, mother and baby take bath. Then, they get ready their baby with new clothes for the first time as they use old clothes for baby up to eleven days.

Sometimes parents keep name of their baby without any meaning or some wrong meaning that affects on baby when she/he grew up and don’t like own name.
