You must keep your baby away from honey in the first six months as it gets contaminated with Clostridium bacteria, which is known to trigger infant botulism. As digestive system of a baby below 1 year of age doesn’t mature, it fails to fight the bacteria which results into some harmful effects on your baby’s health. Infant botulism results in weak sucking, a feeble cry, trouble in swallowing, weakness in muscles and difficulty in breathing. Though it’s curable but you will need instant medical help.
2. Cow's milk and soy milk
Cow’s milk is rich in protein and your little one’s digestive system isn’t strong enough to digest it. Same goes for soy milk too; it has high amount of minerals that can damage your baby’s kidney.
Foods to avoid that can cause Choking Hazards
Some foods are known to trigger choking hazards in babies who are a year old or more. And it can be life threatening at times. Raw vegetables, grapes, raisins, popcorn, marshmallow, gums, nuts and hard candy aren’t easy to sallow and as a result can cause choking in babies. Peanut butter too is very thick and can get stuck in your little one’s throat. So avoid this as well. Also, never give large food chunks as they will never pass down through their throats resulting in heavy choking.

There are certain foods which trigger some sort of allergy in babies. If food allergies are common in your family, then it’s likely for your child also to develop allergy from similar kinds of foods. If at all this is the case, you should refrain from serving them such food types. Some commonly known allergens are cow's milk, eggs, soy, peanuts and wheat.
