Spermicides-Female contraceptives are physical barriers between sperm and egg. These are available in different forms like gels, foam, cream, film, suppositories. It is compatible with other birth control methods too and even alone. Spermicide inserted deep into the vagina blocks cervix preventing sperm to meet egg, immobilize sperm so that no further contact is possible.  Spermicide is effective when you use it effectively. It can be made more effective if your partner helps you by withdrawal during ejaculation. It is too handy and can be easily carried in your pocket or purse even. This is absolutely safe for women’s natural hormones, easily available in markets, safe during breastfeeding even.

Spermicide may vary with varying manufacturer so follow the instruction with care. This is very easy to use, just lie down and gently insert into your vagina with your hands acting as applicator and wait for at least 10 min before you can go for intercourse. Each time you have vaginal intercourse you need to insert more spermicide as these are effective for one hour only. Usually women should not douche until instructed by expert, and even if you douche you can do it after six to eight hours after intercourse.
