Vasectomy is a male permanent contraception that is a permanent solution and does not have to remember condom or pills. This is a method of male sterilization and more effective than female sterilization. This is usually practiced by a couple who does not want further more children. Vasectomy is a method where vas deferens is cut, which prevents movement of sperms from testes to penis; further checking sperm in semen which is ejaculated during sex. There is usually discomfort from few days after the operation. This goes in few days but the male will have to undergo certain precaution like avoiding doing heavy work, lifting heavy things. Use of tight underpants day and night for a week may help in quick recovery. There may be small other problems like risk of wound infection, leaking of sperm in scrotum forming swelling which may need doctor consultation, dull ache in scrotum.
About 3-6 week test after eight weeks post operation for sperm in semen has to be performed for confirmation of success. Until you get all clear in a microscope test you need to use condoms, but this does not interfere with sex drive at all and sperm produced gets absorbed by the body.
