The purest form of food a baby can have is mother’s milk. It is known to provide significant amount of vitamins and minerals a baby would need for the growth and protection against few allergies and few aliments like diarrhea, respiratory complaints and ear infections.
Since the diet is transmitted to your baby by the breast milk, the prime and only complication of breastfeeding is observed when certain foods that can cause colic or periods of fussiness or which can cause any kind of allergic reaction in babies. So it is of utmost importance a breastfeeding mother should take concern and screen the food she is eating if they might cause any sort of illness to her baby and avoid them if they are showing any reactions on the baby.
Depending on the level of colic here are the list of food items and their supplements which need to be avoided in the mother’s diet with time till breast feeding if colic is observed in the babies;

Green vegetables like cauliflower, cabbage, onions, green peppers, broccoli and tomatoes. They should be taken in moderation or should be cooked and not taken raw.

Caffeine containing drinks like tea, coffee and soda

Soy products, Peanuts, Shellfish, Chocolate, Citrus fruits, Wheat.

Things to consider about colic:

Beast feed babies can become colic along with formula fed babies. Formula fed is not the only reason for colic.

A mother should take care that the last, hide milk which usually contains more fat and minerals is taken by the baby rather than the fore milk. Expressing milk out is a remedy for colic as a child would drink hind milk more than the fore milk.

Cow’s milk can be one reason for colic in the baby. Cow’s milk is high protein content and would take lot of strength to digest it which usually a baby with not so well developed digestive system suffers. Cakes, cookies and few chocolates should be avoided by breast feeding mothers and also those items labeled whey, casein, lactalbumin, sodium casienate or Lactoglobulin.

Using pancreatic enzymes during the mothers meal will break down the high protein substances in her meal and would not let them pass through the breast milk baby intakes is a better remedy for colic.

Tummy cramps are frequently found in the babies if the mother has an overactive milk flow. This would lead to over flow of milk into the baby mouth and air can be easily swallowed during this process. Thus a baby can spit milk out or chock.
