2. Contractions are the worst part of laborMost think that pushing a baby out would be the worst part of the whole procedure. But that’s not the case. The worst is contractions. They start slowly and gradually they would get worse. Best is to be mentally prepared.
3. They shave your private partOh yes, this actually happens. Soon after your water breaks and before your contractions start, the nurse would shave you.
4. You will be given an enemaThe doctor will give you a pill which would empty your intestines so that it doesn’t happen on the delivery table. While giving birth, the pressure would fully be on your insides. Hence an enema will be given to you it will be to cleanse your insides.
5. You will have to undergo many internal examinationsInternal examinations are not a good feeling. But there would be quite a few of them. They are done to see what position the baby is in. And sometimes they would be done just when you are having your contraction, making it more painful.
6. Stretch marks are unavoidableYou are bound to get the stretch marks. Your body will be undergoing a huge change and stretch marks are definitely unavoidable. So better start applying anti stretch mark cream from your 4th-5th month as a precaution.
7. Prepare yourself for breastfeedingYes, you won’t be breastfeeding until your baby is here. But it is better to start preparing yourself and your breasts for it. Some mothers do face a lot of issues breastfeeding their child and hence massaging your breasts every day helps. Ask your doctor’s advice for the same, it would surely be helpful.
8. The baby would probably take its own time to come outFrom what we have been shown in movies, the baby will be out soon after the water breaks. However, it is in fact a very long and tiring process. Some may be in labor for more than 10 hours while some would be in labor for half an hour. It all depends on the baby’s position and how it goes.
