Scientific methods have solved many cases of infertility. These methods provide options for a secure and successful pregnancy, when it becomes difficult to conceive naturally. Such a method that can resolve the problem of infertility is sperm donation.
The place where the donated sperms are stored carefully and intact is known as sperm bank. This bank can provide the client with a particular genetic structure of sperm as desired, depending on their wish how they want their child to be. These banks collect the sperms from healthy donors within the age of 18-40, after a number of tests done.
The lab technician uses a special liquid to keep the sperm intact and healthy while freezing. This procedure is called cryopreservation. The sperms are then stored in special containers, which are sealed and kept in containers with liquid nitrogen vapor filled in it, in extremely cold temperatures(that can vary from -150° C to -196° C. A sperm can stay alive as long as 20 years also if it is stored properly. There is a difference between a fresh and a stored sperm, which is, a fresh sperm remain alive for 2-5days but a frozen one lives for only 24 hours inside the uterus.
