Intra-Cervical Insemination (ICI) is an artificial insemination method, which is alike intrauterine insemination (IUI). This process includes insertion of sperm directly into the reproductive tract of women to increase the possibility of getting pregnant. In ICI the sperm sample is placed close to the cervix; from there it travels up to the uterus and gets into the fallopian tubes for the fertilization of the egg. Where as, in IUI the sperm is placed in the uterus. The ICI treatment method is much lower as compared to IUI. But the price increases if sperm washing/donor sperm is involved.

This method is recommended to be performed during the time of ovulation and the woman may have to take fertility drugs to assist her produce eggs. A semen sample is required from the male partner of the woman for this procedure. A thin and flexible catheter is inserted through the vagina of the woman that reaches the cervix. The sperm sample is then injected at the end of the catheter to deposit the sperm near the cervix. It is then cover with a sponge cap to prevent leakage.

The couples, having problems like low sperm count or motility and women having cervical mucus problems are recommended to undergo this method.
