Today’s world is the world of Internet. The Internet has become an integral part of our life. We all know that the invention of the Internet has made our lives very easy and full of comfort. Well, as our elders say rightly, that every coin has two sides and excess of anything is harmful. Same goes with the Internet. It has many disadvantages too. To our horror, our kids are at the biggest risk!
Recently we had to witness a tragic incident in Mumbai, where a 14-years-old boy, Manpreet Sahans jumped off the 7th floor of his building. The boy lived in Andheri East, was allegedly addicted to an online game called “Blue Whale.” Before he committed suicide, he chatted with his friends for around 20 minutes and told them that he is going to commit suicide. His friends thought that he is just joking.

According to Police, “A person from another building saw Manpreet sitting on the parapet and kept asking him to get down. Manpreet even took a selfie with the person from where he was sitting and posted it on the group. He told his friends that one person was stopping him from committing suicide and that he would jump once he goes down.”
What on earth would make a 14-years-old boy commits suicide? Well, friends, the game originated in Russia in 2015 and have taken the lives of countless innocent children in Russia, UK and US. Now, this has been the first case in India, which has come into light.

The game consists of 50 evil deeds. Completion of every stage is marked by a cut on a skin that would create an image of a blue whale at the end of the game. The participants also have to send pictures of tasks as a proof to the admin.
Now Mumbai Police is on a mission to spread the awareness about this evil game. This incident is a reminder to all parents to keep an eye on their children. You never know what they might be upto. Let’s not intrude their privacy harshly. Be friendly with your kids, so that they may not be afraid to share anything with you. Let’s spread this message among our friends and family and make people aware of this evil game and its dire consequences and prevent another tragedy.
We urge you to keep a close watch on what activity is your kid doing online. Tracing their activities and keeping in constant touch with them about what’s going on in their life, is one way to prevent such mishaps.
Care to share.
