WHAT SHOULD SHE EAT?
Your baby will start sprouting her first milk teeth, if she hasn’t already! Usually teething begins at around this time and continues for some months. Your baby can be put onto slightly solid foods, you can now try experimenting with some more variety thrown, to keep her interested, and help develop her taste buds. The taste buds in babies develop at a much later age, and this is the right time to start exposing her to all kinds of food groups. So mashed rice, potatoes, bananas and cereal can be good to begin with.
WHAT WILL SHE DO AT THIS TIME?
By now, your baby will be discovering places on her own! She may creep around on her stomach, or roll, or crawl forward, and show her determined manner in getting where she wants to. She may also be adept at grasping moving objects, and this will help her in ultimately sharpening her hand-eye co-ordination.
Her hearing sense will also start getting sharper, as she starts picking up and identifying familiar sounds from the myriad sounds emanating from around her. And her voice will be used to the fullest too, as she breaks out into squeals of laughter or cries of childish rage! This is the best time when her language skills can be enhanced and shaped, so keep speaking to her throughout the day, as much as you can. She will soon start expanding to her vocabulary of ‘ba ba’s and ‘da da’s !
HOW MUCH WILL SHE SLEEP?
By now, your baby will be sleeping well through the night. Keep her always on her back, and though she may wake up occasionally for a feed or just a cuddle, she will soon get into a proper sleep routine.
WHAT YOU COULD HELP HER DO!
Your baby might have started enjoying her bath too by now, and she might have just about become a bit too big for her baby tub, which she was so well used to all these days. You might soon have to shift her into a bigger tub, babies usually get terrified at the contraption, so for the first few days, you might have to be very careful to be close to her so that she can bathe at ease. Some parents even try baby rings, but even these, you will have to stay closely around her at all times.
HOW MUCH SHOULD SHE WEIGH?
She is now 6 months old, and she will be growing in leaps and bounds! Keep a constant check on her weight, which by now should have almost doubled over the weight she had when she was born.
