WHAT SHOULD SHE EAT?
If you have been breastfeeding your baby till now, you might want to now introduce her to the bottle. This is an option you could consider after discussing it with your doctor. Weaning her away from the bottle could be tricky, so try putting her on it as just an option, as you carry on with your breastfeeding for some time. Do not make too much of a fuss over the bottle activity, otherwise she might just not take to it. You could get somebody else to feed her the bottle, since it has been seen that babies do not take to their being fed on the bottle by their mothers. Check with your doctor about how many times to feed her milk through the bottle during the day. Gradually, you could then reduce the breastfeeding routine.
WHAT WILL SHE DO AT THIS TIME?
Your baby would have become much more active by now, and she loves activities that involve a lot of action and fun- she will love that bouncy seat or even a small baby swing. She will now be putting her fists to good use, and whatever you scatter around her- toys, rattles, keys, blocks etc. - she will be grasping them in her hands. Keep your little engaged during the whole time that she is awake. Read out to her, sing her songs, let her keep listening to words in a language that she will soon grow to understand.
HOW MUCH WILL SHE SLEEP?
By now, your baby will be sleeping well through the night. Keep her always on her back, and though she may wake up occasionally for a feed or just a cuddle, she will soon get into a proper sleep routine.
WHAT YOU COULD HELP HER DO!
As she is now teething, all those little whites pushing against her gums will be causing her a lot of pain. This is because her gums are tender, and you could help to relieve the pain by gently massaging her gums off and on. Her pain could be more palpable during the nights, and you might have to get used to some nights of awakenings while is listless and cannot sleep. You might see her getting up in the middle of the night, and starting to crawl, creep or sit. It is almost as if she just can’t stop doing what she did throughout the day.
HOW MUCH SHOULD SHE WEIGH?
Her weight will be more double now than at birth, so keep checking the scales. Sometimes babies stay thin during their teething phase, and many do not put on weight. But she will soon start gaining weight once she is comfortable with her teeth all in place!
