WHAT SHOULD SHE EAT?
Now that your baby is eating solids, it is time to get her on to coarser foods. By now she would be adept at chewing and swallowing, her reflexes would have become much stronger, serving her food in bigger pieces or in chunkier helpings will help her to graduate, ultimately to table food. So you leave the rice and the dal mixture or even the khichadi that you serve your baby a bit coarser than normal, so that she can slowly get used to chewing solid food on her own, as she progresses. You can also start introducing new foods at this point, cottage cheese or paneer, fruits and vegetables that she has not tried before.
Do not worry if she is not eating too many solids as yet. Breast milk is still the best option.
WHAT WILL SHE DO AT THIS TIME?
Your baby would have probably learned a new game by now or would have mastered an old one! She could have even sufficiently developed her skills to play ‘peek-a-boo’ with you, covering her face with her hands and then quickly removing them, all the bursting into laughter at the joke! Grandparents here play a big role in teaching the baby all kinds of games and songs that will keep your baby and the senior citizens enthralled for hours!
HOW MUCH WILL SHE SLEEP?
At 30 weeks, your baby will be slumbering through the nights like a princess, unless she wakes up due to something that is painful, like her teeth that are sprouting up and causing her pain. She might wake up only if she is unwell or if she is having problems teething, so ask your doctor if you could relieve her pain with some medication.
WHAT YOU COULD HELP HER DO!
Your baby will probably be aware of objects and their shapes, so if you partly cover an object, she will quickly uncover it to see whether the object is still there in full. But the interesting thing is , if you cover the object or toy fully, she will think it’s gone and she will quickly lose interest and stop looking for it!
HER WEIGHT
She should be steadily increasing her weight, adding some grams every week. Babies grow in spurts, so if she does not gain weight for some time, it is alright. Only if she is looking out of sorts or listless, or keeps crying for no reason, should you really worry. Ask your doctor if you feel something is wrong.
