WHAT SHOULD SHE EAT?
It is not unusual for your baby to soon lose interest in breastfeeding. Though she might still want that closeness with you, she might not be so interested in feeding with you. All that she might do is crawl into your lap occasionally for some comfort.
When you start giving your little one solids, make sure to use all the right equipment, so that she gets food served to her in the right way. You will need a blender for blending and pureeing a lot of food quickly, a fine-wire mesh strainer or sieve to help remove blocks or chunks from the food, a potato masher for mashing vegetables and fruits, a ricer for cutting foods into very small sizes, and a food mixer or grinder if you want to mix up foods.
WHAT WILL SHE DO AT THIS TIME?
As you may have noticed, your baby scarcely needs any expensive toys or gadgets to play with. She is quite happy playing with pots and pans, spoons and blocks, everything so very easily available in the house! You can use your imagination and find things in the house for baby to play with. You will be surprised at the amount of fun that both you and baby can have together! She will be one curious explorer, at 33 weeks. Give her a piece of cake, and she will crumble it to bits. Give her a spoon, and she will drop it on the floor, just to hear it rattle.
WHAT YOU COULD HELP HER DO!
She will love playing with cartons and cardboard boxes. Place her favorite toy inside, and watch her trying to find it, after you close the lid! She may also push the box and shake it. Big carton boxes can also be converted into forts, as you cut a rough ‘door’ into one of their walls, and your baby will keep going in and out. Inexpensive activities, but guaranteed to keep your child engaged for hours!
Your baby will also learn to offload water from one cup to another, and though she might not be successful, the activity is sure to keep her intrigued. Cups, pots and vessels of all sizes can be used to keep her spellbound for others. A friend’s little infant would insist on accompanying the house help to the kitchen, helping her to store vessels back in place in the cupboard!
HOW MUCH WILL SHE SLEEP?
She should be sleeping through the night by now. To get her into the groove, try readying her for the night ahead by reading to her a quiet bedtime story, and then you could try singing her a favorite lullaby. Keep the surroundings as quiet as possible, dim the lights and tell her siblings if any to not make any noise. Your baby is trying to sleep!
WHAT SHE WILL WEIGH
Your baby is growing and will soon approach her 1st year. She is more than 8 months old, and by now should have gained more than double her weight. Look out for any signs of sickness, like a prolonged cold or flu. Consult the doctor if you feel something is not right.
